Zach is 3 months!

Happy New Year!

Zach turns 3 months today. We had a fun Christmas when Grandma Morphet, Aunt Cindy and Uncle Mark all came in to spend Zach's first Christmas with him. (Incidentally, we have decided that we are definitely in need of more space (1400 sq feet) and will start house hunting soon.)

He is quite the little smiler. Even chuckles occasionally. This makes him a lot of fun when he decides that he wants to be happy. Otherwise, we have a "high needs" child on our hands - he loves to be held most of the time he is awake. I know that soon he will be crawling, then walking, then running and will have little interest in me holding him - so I cherish the time for now.

For Christmas, we were able to stop in to Great Grandma's who is now 96. (WHOA!) Unfortunately, Zach wasn't the most cooperative for a picture - but Sophie did oblige.

He coos like crazy and the most interesting milestone this month I found was that he has started to interact with Sophie - he likes to watch her and will coo and smile at her when she stays still enough for him to see her!

He refuses a bottle, and is partial to hid Dada at nighttime - this makes it very interesting trying to get him to sleep! He is waking 2-3 times a night from 9PM-8PM so we are managing some OK sleep for now. He loves sitting upright so we have purchased a "Bumbo" seat - whatta find!

Two is certainly more "interesting" than one. (Feel free to read between the lines.) Hope everyone has a Happy New Year and we'll send out the next update in about a month.

Zach turned 2 months

Zach is now 2 months. Zach has turned into quite the little fussy little boy - although he intersperses these wonderful smiles in between the very sad crying episodes. Just enough smiles to keep you from going insane. Needless to say - all the baby equipment is getting a lot of use (boppy pillow, swing, bouncer seat, snugli carrier)

So, yes - he is smiling! It started consistently at around 5 weeks. YEAH! Hopefully a laugh or two will come our way soon.
He had is first temperature and cold that made us very sad. But he appears to be doing much better now.

He went for his 2 month checkup today and weighed 12lbs 12 oz and measured 23 3/4 inches. That would be a solid 75% (same as his birth weight) Did I mention the shots? He did really well, But they still make me so anxious! :(

We look forward to the holidays and hope everybody has a great New Year too!

Zach is 1 month

So we hit the 1 month mark successfully. Zach is doing well and we are adjusting to life with two in diapers.

Sophie loves her brother and has yet to request that we return him.

Unlike his sister, Zach has some fussy periods - but not the full blown colic that Sophie had. PPHHEWWW!

Anybody considering getting pregnant - I recommend targeting a spring due date - the icky dark weather is not fun in Syracuse - you are stuck inside most of the time. BLEK!

Halloween was great since Babcia (Grandma) Morphet was up for 3 weeks from North Carolina and we had the opportunity to go trick-or-treating with Sophie. Thanks Babcia for all your help!

Life is more hectic than ever - aren't we lucky?

Looking forward to the holidays.

Happy Halloween 2006

Zach's doing great - here are some pics of Sophie and her friends.
My little monkey really loved Halloween this year, and the weather was fantastic, which made for great fun.

Enjoy!

Sophie at the State Fair

So Sophie got to visit the Great NY State Fair for the first time and I can say that she certainly enjoyed herself to the point of exhaustion. Take a look!

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY SOPHIE!

We cannot believe that Sophie turned one already!
For her birthday, we went for her one year checkup.
(with shots and blood work I might add - mommy nearly passed out...)
25 pounds, 2 ounces & 32 inches = that's a solid year of 95% folks!

Sophie has turned the page on quite a few milestones all within the last
week. Exciting stuff, and so great that they are taking place right
before Grandma Morphet's eyes while she is up visiting us for 2 weeks.
So what milestone you might ask...
1) she is saying "Mama", "Dada", "woof woof", "this", "that", and "hot" on a regular basis....
2) she has also said: "jello", "hello", "pop" and a few other words on single occasions never to be heard again...
3) she popped 5 teeth within 2 days, giving her a grand total of 13 teeth
4) Can we have the drumroll please? Sophie is officially a toddler. Yes, she is walking. Started just a day
after her birthday party cruising all around the house, much to Buddy's demise. Tends to want to run rather than walk,
and has managed to beam her head a few times, too. :(

We had a great birthday - even though we had a little too much excitement at her party when cousin Megan was
rushed off to the hospital. (We were also celebrating Megan's 16th birthday party...) Megan is doing much better now.
Must have been the snow cone machine!
